Who is most at risk for an opioid overdose? It might not be who you think. It could be your elderly mom, or the neighbor who just had dental surgery.

Naloxone (brand name Narcan) is the lifesaving medication that can reverse an opioid overdose and save a life. In this hands-on training from the Williamson County Public Health Education department and hosted by the library, participants will learn about the number of opioid overdoses, how to assess an overdose, and how to administer naloxone. Each participant will receive a free box of naloxone.

Under the Texas Good Samaritan Law, there is no liability with trying to help in these situations. Teens are encouraged to attend with their grownups, and will need permission from a guardian before they can take the naloxone home.

There is no fee for this class, but registration is requested.
